Community Involvement

Commitment to Community

Living in a small town comes with many opportunities to volunteer and participate in the community. Few things bring me more happiness than being involved in community events. Since 2018, my scheduled has afforded more flexibility and opportunity to volunteer in town. Since then, I have dedicated my time to supporting several local organizations and events that I feel enrich and strengthen our vibrant community.

Ski Wallace

Since 2018, I have served on the board of Ski Wallace, a non-profit which focuses on brining winter tourism events to Wallace, and raising our profile as a winter destination. During my time as a volunteer I have worked to:

  • created social media postings and video to advertise upcoming events
  • assisted in event planning and execution
  • tracked and reconciled financial transactions and prepared financial statements
  • created posters, banners, and advertising for print
  • created registration and judging forms
  • worked with the board and other volunteers to securing funding from local businesses and organizations to facilitate the event
  • created online registration forms that collect payment for Ski Jor registration
  • created online ticket sales forms for fundraising events

My time spent volunteering for Ski Wallace has been incredibly fun and challenging, and seeing the event come together each year through the hard work of all the volunteers is a wonderful experience, and something I take great pride in!

Fuller Center for Housing

Since September of 2022, I have helped to create newsletters for the Fuller Center for Housing. The Fuller promotes creates partnerships within communities that bring together churches, schools, businesses and civic organizations to build decent, affordable homes in partnership with people who are unable to secure adequate housing by conventional means. In addition to creating the newsletters, I also serve as the secretary on the board.

Wallace Flower Project

Each spring, the Wallace Flower Project brightens the streets of Wallace through hanging planting and hanging baskets throughout town. Since 2019, I have served as the treasurer. In addition to my role as the treasurer, I work to help maintain and update the website, create social media posts to share what we do and seek donations,  and help recruit volunteers. My duties as treasurer include:

  • receiving and processing donations
  • preparation of financial reports
  • documenting donations and posting to website

Additionally, each year that I have been on the committee I have helped with our various flower-related tasks around town, including helping to create the new “6th Street Park” located next to the Melodrama in Wallace. Being a member of the Flower Project has been a wonderful experience, and I thoroughly enjoy working on this project.

NP Depot

Every year in May, the Northern Pacific Railway Depot Museum holds the Depot Day Classic Car Show in downtown Wallace. Due to pandemic restrictions, the Northern Pacific Railway Depot was unable to hold its annual Depot Day car show in 2020 and 2021. In 2021, I assisted the board in holding “Virtual Depot Day” by creating and maintaining a webpage, registration form, and voting system. The virtual car show raised funds for the Museum, while still allowing people to participate and view all the beautiful cars.

In 2022 and 2023, I worked with the Depot Board to coordinate event advertisements on social media and email blasts. Additionally, I worked to modernize the registration workflow.
