A historic renovation in progress, Sutherland’s Crest invites you to explore the history of the home and the local community.

Rich in history

Originally built in 1907 by Angus Sutherland, famed lawman, the home has only had 6 owners. Later owned by US Legislator Dorthy McCann, and her husband Eugene McCann, Sutherland’s Crest has been home to some of Shoshone county’s most interesting residents.

Accommodations

Main Floor

     Preserved in the original 1907 Craftsman style, the house features the original leaded glass windows, hardwood floors, and ornate details characteristic of Craftsman architecture of the time.

     Relax on the spacious front porch with a cool beverage after a day of adventures, and soak in the history of Wallace. The main floor offers access to the kitchen furnished with pots, pans, utensils and glassware. The formal dining room seats 8.

     The living room offers a flat screen TV with Netflix and seating for 6. Additional bedding is available for extra guests. When fully booked, the house sleeps up to 8.

Davenport Room

The master bedroom of the home, the Davenport room features a bedroom set out of the Davenport Hotel in Spokane. The room is decorated with oil paintings from France. The queen size bed is made up with rich cotton sheets. 

The Red Room

Furnished with a four-poster queen bed and cotton sheets. Views from this room overlook the City of Wallace, with a view that has not changed much over the last 115 years. The large bookshelf in the room was formerly owned by Actress Patty Duke, who was once married to a Wallace native, Michael Pearce.
